Ok. I did it. I am out of there. I am no more. Nada. Zero.
Many people have supported me, but there were few that gave me hard time about it. But seriously, I've thought through this decision many times over the course of several years. Now, that it's finally made, I have only one regret - I should have done it earlier! And I should have started blogging earlier too. Even if nobody reads my blog, I know I am doing it for my family and for the times when kids come up to me and say: "Mom, tell me the dumbest thing you've ever done in your life." That was an actual question from my 9 year-old daughter yesterday. Of course, my mind went blank, I could not think of anything, cause I'm just that cool (just kidding.) After intense brainstorming, I did come up with something, like, wearing nylons and a miniskirt in a negative temperature winter weather, or melting butter for my cake recipe by setting the pot with butter on the heater (I was, like, 10 years old and at times dispayed inability to use my brain to its full potential.)
Anyway, it's been almost a week since I deleted my Facebook account and I am enjoying my freedom and time I can use for keeping a journal (dumb things included), for watching a movie with the kids (instead of slipping to the computer desk to check if someone likes my new profile picture), for planning our summer vacation with Scott, for practicing piano, for joy of reading, and for 8 healthy hours of sleeping. And I am even going to prove you, how much time I have these days. I will post the entries from my diary I kept when we went to Asia in 2009. I always meant to have a digital copy of it, in case I lose my little orange book. But I never had enough time to figure out what digital copy even means (I am still not 100% sure about that part.) One way or the other, I feel like now is my chance to pass on that Asian wisdom to my posterity. Stay tuned, it's coming up. Tomorrow. Now I have my cosy bed, the book and someone else waiting for me. Good night.
I always read your blog, look forward to each post, and enjoy!
ReplyDeletebe honest, I admire your decision to delete the facebook page, I'd probably do the same, if I was sure that I will not lose contact with some of my friends, who live in other countries. Not many people use e-mail anymore! it's such a pity!
waiting for new exciting posts from you!
hugs! xoxox
I love reading your blog Ulya! Thank you!
