Interview with Nadia and David

In the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year I asked my older kids some questions to find out their current perception of themselves and of the world they live in. Here's what I've got.

1. Tell me best things about you.
Nadia: kind, can make people feel better, helpful. . .
David: I know a lot of reading.

2.  If you could tell me never serve two vegetables again, which two would you choose?
N: boiled squash
D: boiled tomatoes

3. What would be the ideal allowance? Tell me how you would use it.
N: $20 a week. Save it for the future
D: $1080 pay for college and high school (I should've probably interviewed them separetely to get more sincere answeres.)

4. If you are feeling sad, what meal that I could make or order would be the one that would cheer you up?
N: Watermelon, fruit salad, fruit smoothy
D: Rice

5. Tell me who you think are the greatest musicians in the world?
N: Mommy, John Williams (the one who wrote the score for Harry Potter movies)
D: Group 'Balkon' in Munich.
Beethoven's 5-th Symphony in disco style. I wish I had bought their CD, they are such fun musicians!

6. If you could be something you are not, what would you like to be?
N: I just want to be me.
D: Animagus and change from person to dog

7. What is your favorite toy?
N: -
D: Legos and Webkinz dog Goldie

8. If you could decorate our house, what would it look like?
N: Either castle like in Hogwarts, or bright and cheerful like my room, or rain forest.
D: Maps all over

9. What is your favorite book?
N: Harry Potter, Book of Mormon, Bible.
D: I don't really have a favorite book. 'My first Book of Mormon', actually.

10. Who are the people you most admire?
N: Mom, Dad, Hermione, Jesus.
D: Harry Potter, myself.

11. What is the most enjoyable thing our family has done together lately?
N: We went to Scotland and the babies were born!
D: London, Scotland, playing Mouse Trap.

12. What do you think is beyond the stars?
N: More stars and galaxies.
D: The Moon.

13. What would you like for us to do as a family on a weekend?
N: Watch a movie, go to Legoland.
D: Go to the pool.

14. What sport are you good at?
N: Swimming.
D: Tag.

15. What have you done, in school or sports or anywhere, that you are especially proud of?
N: Finishing all of the Harry Potter books.
D: Got 2 test at school 100%  last week.

16. Can you describe the most beautiful place you have ever visited?
N: Everywhere.
D: Scotland, but they sell beer there.

17. What is your favorite movie?
N: Harry Potter (all of them)
D: Diary of a Whimpy Kid.

18. How much TV a day do you think a kid should watch?
N: Half an hour.
D: at least 1 hour or 2.

19. What is the grossest thing you can think of?
N: Tapeworms.
D: Toilet

20. What do you remember about kindergarten?
N: It was a Church one.
D: We learned a lot, we read a lot, we played a lot.

21. To whom do you feel closest in our family (including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins)?
N: Mom.
D: Nadia.

22. What would you do if you were invisible for a day?
N: Play a trick on David.
D: Sneak inside the school park when it's closed.

23. What are your favorite treats?
N: Lollipops.
D: Popsicles.

24. Are you proud to be half-Russian?
N: Yes!
D: No.
N: David, that's an insult to your ancestors!
Mom: That's my girl! (hug)

25. What do you know about Russia?
N: Hmm, where do I begin? I know the language, I know the fairytails about Baba Yaga. I know that they have this awesome church with onion domes. They eat wheat kasha there. Animals that live there are deer, bears, and korovka. I like matreshki from my Russian Grandma.
D: Cold, they eat rice, drink a lot of tea. Russian animals are foxes and som (catfish). I don't speak Russian.

  1. Oh, i loved it, Ulya! I see how great parents you are, cause kids love the books of Mormon and David doesn't like that they sell beer in Scotland, and it feels like you are takaya druzhnaya semya!! They are so smart too! I like how David wants maps on the walls and he had 100% for his tests twice, I admire your kids, wow. I admire you as a mommy.
